Anti-Social Media Bill Has Been Withdrawn By Senate

The Senate has withdrawn the frivolous petition bill sponsored by Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah believed to have been aimed at restricting Nigerians freedom of expression on the social media.

The withdrawal followed the report of the Senate Committee on Human Rights and Legal Matters submitted by David Umar. It was clear in the report that the bill amounted to violation of citizens’ rights.
