In a coordinated raid, members of the EMPD Tracing Unit arrested a
Nigerian man in Boksburg North, South Africa, found in possession of a
large amount of cocaine, Cat and cash on April 11.
EMPD spokesman Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago said the metro police
confiscated the drugs weighing 1.5kg and estimated to be worth
R2million. Cash amounting to more than R8000 was also confiscated.
"Acting on intelligence received from members of South African Police
Service, the metro police pounced on a house at the corner of 2nd Street
and 13th Avenue in Boksburg. A lone 29-year-old man was found in an
outside room where he is tenant"
On searching a bag found on the bed in the room, the metro police found
eight bags laden with cocaine and seventeen with the drug cat.
"The combined mass of the drugs amounted to 1.5kgs," said Kgasago.
The arrested Nigerian was charged with dealing in illicit substances at
Boksburg North police station and is expected to appear in the Boksburg
Magistrate’s Court soon.
